This story "The Farmer And The Well" is from Birbal stories and showed how he could use his cleverness to solve this complicated story of a Greedy farmer. This story will teach us how to think differently and get solutions to any problems that might present themselves.

1A farmer bought a well 2from his neighbour 3to water his farm. 4The neighbour sold him the well 5but did not allow him to draw water from it. 6The farmer went to the emperor for justice. 7His courtier questioned the neighbour, 8who said that he had sold the well but not the water within it. 9The neighbour was told to 10either pay rent for the water 11or remove it all immediately. 12 Realising that his trick didn’t work, 13 he apologised and went home.

ஒரு விவசாயி அவருடைய தோட்டத்திற்கு தண்ணீர் பாய்ச்ச அவரது அண்டை தோட்டத்துக்காரரிடமிருந்து ஒரு கிணறு வாங்கினார். பக்கத்து தோட்டத்துக்காரர் அவருக்கு கிணற்றை விற்றுவட்டார் ஆனால் அவரை அதிலிருந்து தண்ணீர் எடுக்க அனுமதிக்கவில்லை. விவசாயி நீதிக்காக மன்னரிடம் சென்றார். அவரது மந்திரி பக்கத்து தோட்டத்துக்காரரை விசாரித்தார். அவர் கிணற்றை விற்றிருந்தேன் ஆனால் அதிலுள்ள தண்ணீரை அல்ல என கூறினார். ஒன்று தண்ணீருக்கான வாடகை செலுத்து, அல்லது அவை எல்லாவற்றையும் உடனடியாக அகற்று என பக்கத்து தோட்டத்துக்காரரிடம் கூறப்பட்டது. தன் தந்திரம் பலிக்கவில்லை என்பதை உணர்ந்து, அவர் மன்னிப்புக் கேட்டு வீட்டிற்கு சென்றார்.
